A dream house can become reality with a dollhouse.

For me, dollhouse designing and construction started before my teen years. Now that I am in my golden years, this has become, like for many people, “my craft and hobby”.

Passion is what leads me to start a house and most of the time they are created for the challenge. They can be viewed as children’s toys, but most of my houses are display cases. Cases require siding, shingles, and/or other exterior treatments to look realistic with idealized interiors.

Each house is unique, constructed on a custom basis by the idea and style. The work reflects different house styles from one story to (so far) five stories.

The focal point for most of the houses is the interior flow of the house. It mainly mimics a full-scale house. The interior spaces are connected room to room by hallways and stairs. There is a continuous flow of living spaces, kitchen, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Most houses have an open back and a fancy front façade. Other houses have an opening on the side. This is done in bigger houses to maintain the interior flow as to help mimic a full-scale house interior.

My houses and room boxes are built using the most common standard of 1:12 scale, where one inch represents. Another common scale 1:24 where a half inch equates to one foot. They are constructed using a variation of materials from the most common material (wood) to foam board. Foam boards are used in combination with glass and wood sticks to give and maintain a more rigid wall. The last material allows for houses to be light-weight and lower cost. Time to complete a house depends on the size and the details.
